Self-portraits – 5th Class Ms. Hansberry

This week the boys and girls were busy completing self-portraits. This fun self – portrait lesson combines art exploration in abstract art and colour theory!

The first step involved the children painting an A3 size white card. Before painting, we reviewed what the primary, secondary, warm and cool colours were.

While the kids worked, I took each students photo in black and white.

Next, the children cut out their self-portraits and then glued their black and white self-portrait onto their painting.  When this was done, the children filled out a short questionnaire. The students then cut out their sentences into strips and added them to their paintings using a glue stick!

Finally, the self portraits were complete and ready for display!! Well done to all the boys and girls for their fantastic work! I hope you enjoy these abstract self-portraits as much as we do!!
