A Magnificent March in Room 1!

We were back to school with a bang this month! While all of the boys and girls missed their friends and the fun they have in school, we certainly made up for the time lost.

Our Aistear theme this month was ‘The Doctor’s Surgery.’ Let’s just say the future of healthcare is in great hands! Over the month, there were lots of doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and receptionists very hard at work.

Since coming back to school, we have noticed that the days are warmer, brighter and longer. Instead of being completely bare, the trees now have buds growing on them. The daffodil bulbs that we planted months ago turned into shoots and then bloomed into flowers. When we were really quiet- a lot more birdsong could be heard all around the school grounds. This could only mean one thing- Spring is here! Here are some photographs of the children enjoying the outdoors and hunting for signs of Spring.

During the month of March, Seachtain na Gaeilge also took place. We had great craic listening to trad music, doing Irish dancing, dressing up for Lá Glas and going on a parade- all while using cúpla focal aswell! Bhaineamar an-sult agus taitneamh asti.

We had some very exciting visitors in Room 1 towards the end of the month. Tadpoles decided to join us and the boys and girls were fascinated looking at them swimming around. While we were at it, we learned about the life-cycle of the frog and how frogspawn turns into tadpoles, tadpoles turn to froglets and froglets turn to frogs. A special thanks to Ms. Tracey for bringing in the frogspawn.

A special surprise for Room 1 was planned at the end of the month- an egg hunt! It was a super way to finish off a busy but truly magnificent month.

There was so much more that we got up to- take a look at these extra pictures. Well done to the Junior Infants (and their parents!) for all of their hard work this busy term and I hope they enjoy their rest this Spring Break- they certainly deserve it!
