September in Senior Infants

We have had a great couple of weeks back in school and everyone in Senior Infants has settled in really well. We are all trying our best to follow our class rules and routines so that our school day runs smoothly and we have lots of time for learning and engaging in fun activities.

We commenced Co-teaching in Literacy with the help of Ms. Quaid and Ms Melvin. We get to work in small groups to improve our skills in sounds, blending, tricky words, handwriting, reading, comprehension and writing ‘Our News’.

In Aistear we learnt all about ‘Myself and My Environment’. We take part in socio-dramatic play as part of Aistear taking on the roles of family members in the home. Throughout the month we learnt about lots of different types of families and homes. We work at different stations such as role play, playdough, construction, sand and small world. For the month of October, we will be learning all about the farm.

Senior Infants along with the rest of the school took part in the Climate Strike to highlight global warming. We made posters and helped to create awareness about how our actions affect the changing climate.
