Fresh Air Friday!

It was Fresh Air Friday in Balbriggan again last Friday 5th March. Once more, we had brilliant participation from our school with so many children and parents walking or cycling to school on the morning. We also decided to incorporate some litter picking in to our walk. The children put on their rubber gloves and grabbed a plastic bag and worked together to gather up as much rubbish as they could on their way to school! Well done to all of the boys and girls involved and a special word of thanks to the Parents Association and all of our parent and teacher helpers who ensured that the children made it to school safely! We will hopefully be having another Fresh Air Friday...
Sam Maguire visits Scoil Chormaic CNS!

Sam Maguire visits Scoil Chormaic CNS!

Scoil Chormaic CNS had a visit from a very special guest to our school on the 27th of February. James Doran and Anthony Holly with the Sam Maguire Cup We were very lucky to have Dublin Senior Footballer James Doran and Anthony Holly from O Dwyer’s GAA visited with the Sam Maguire cup. All the children and staff gathered in the school hall with huge excitement. Mr Mc Elliogott took to the microphone to welcome our guests, and there was a huge round of applause and cheers. James talked to the children about when he started playing Gaelic football when he was four years old. He spoke about how much he practiced to improve his skills and how hard he worked to get on the Dublin team. The children had a lot of interesting questions to ask James, and some children even got to hold the cup! James and Anthony were so impressed with the children’s enthusiasm for sport, that they asked for the whole school to have the night off homework! At the end of the visit, James took time to pose for photos with each class level. Here are some photos from the visit. Junior InfantsSenior Infants1st Class2nd Class3rd Class4th Class5th Class6th...

World Champion coming to Scoil Chormaic CNS!

We’re very excited to be welcoming top Irish athlete Caradh O’Donovan to the school on Wednesday 5th February 2020. Caradh is a former World Kickboxing champion as well as being a National Karate Champion with hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Caradh will be leading a sponsored fitness circuit with all pupils, and will follow-up with an inspiring and motivating talk as well as a question and answer session. The aim of the event is to inspire the pupils to take up sport generally, but just as importantly to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life. Every child has received a sponsorship form to use in order to help raise money for the event. You can also sponsor your child by following the below link: www.sportsforschools.org As the sponsorship form and online sponsorship page explain, much of the money that is raised will be used to improve physical activity for our school, while also supporting Irish Olympic athletes and Paralympic athletes. Please ensure that sponsorship forms and money are returned in a sealed envelope to the school office, clearly labelled Sports for Schools within 1 week after the event has taken place. Please also make sure that your child comes to school on the event day wearing their PE Kits and that they have fun while taking part! Thank you in anticipation of creating a terrific and memorable event for our school community. Kind regards, The Active School Team Scoil Chormaic...
