Thank you to all parents who were able to attend our parent information session yesterday. For those of you who missed it please find the powerpoint here by clicking the link parent-information-senior-infants
If you would like to help your children with their phonics and blending there are lots of resources available online. These can be used to help with homework, if your child needs additional help with sounds or simply for fun.
The following is a link to lots of different Jollyphonic resources: http://jollylearning.co.uk/gallery/
You can also find the jollyphonic songs that we listen to in class here and the actions that go with them:
And here is the link for our digraph sounds:
Finally in relation to Jollyphonics there is an app you can purchase in the Google play store for Android phones and the app store for apple phones. This app goes through all of the letter sounds and also helps your child with beginning to blend their letters for reading and identify sounds in words for spelling. Here is the link for more information on the app if you would like to download it http://jollylearning.co.uk/jolly-phonics-letter-sounds-app-2/
A parent inquired yesterday about maths homework for the children in Senior Infants. At the moment the children are just receiving English homework such as word boxes and letter practice along with oral language homework based on their letter sound. They will be receiving maths homework in due course. However, if you would like to know what your child is up to in maths in the classroom please check out your child’s Class Dojo for an idea as their will be posts on the Class Story. If you would like to work on maths with your child in a fun way at home there are lots of reliable resources to choose from online. I have provided a link to just two websites where you can find some good maths activities to do with your child at home.
If you have any further questions about anything, please do not hesitate to contact you child’s class teacher through the Class Dojo system or by arranging a meeting with your child’s class teacher.
