Happy Chinese New Year

This week in celebration of Chinese New year and the upcoming Lantern Festival we learned all about Chinese New Year and made our very own lanterns.

We learned that red was considered to be a lucky colour and during Chinese New Year children receive red envelopes with money in them.  While this year is the year of the rooster we learned that many of the children in the class were born either in the year of the Rabbit (2011) and the Tiger (2010).

Ms. Tracey’s sister lives in Hong Kong, and she sent us a video of how to say Happy Chinese New Year.
