Gravity and Parachutes in Ms Forde’s First Class

We did some fun experiments in Science in February and March. We learned about gravity and air resistance.

We made predictions about which would reach the ground first – the book or the teddy. We dropped them from the top of the stairs to observe the result. We did this test three times to make it fair.

We also learned about air resistance. This is a force that tries to slow down objects that are moving. We predicted which would reach the ground first – a crumpled up piece of paper or a sheet of paper. Can you see which hit the ground first? The air made the sheet of paper slow down.

Then, in our groups, we made a parachute. We dropped our parachutes from the stairs to test them out. Take a look!
