Gaelic football update!

Gaelic football has now finished up for the year in the school but what another great year it has been! We have had brilliant attendance from the children involved with so many of the boys and girls showing superb dedication and commitment as well as lots of silky skills! In fact, there were 3 girls in particular that never missed a training session all year so well done girls! Overall, the  school team had 24 training sessions in either O’ Dwyers or the school hall. We also competed in the Fingal League in the spring and did ourselves and the school proud in that competition once again!

On the 8th of June, a panel of 12 players was selected to represent the school in the Balbriggan schools blitz day. The team were up against some of the traditionally strong schools in the area but our boys and girls performed excellently and really enjoyed the day! Well done to all! Here is a picture of the panel of players who attended the blitz!

This week was Active week in our school and on Thursday, the 3rd and 4th class children played in a blitz with some of the 5th class children acting as the managers! Indeed the managers did a superb job and gave endless encouragement and guidance to their players. We had 8 teams that were named after counties such as Dublin, Kerry and Mayo with over 80 children in total participating. The Longford team came out on top in the end but everyone really enjoyed competing on the day and there are definitely some future Gaelic football stars in our school! We look forward to seeing some of our 3rd class children joining our school team next year! There are some great action photos from the blitz below!

Finally, thanks once again to all the parents for their continued support this year.
