Fun Times in Ms Gibbons’ Second Class

The children in Second Class, Ms Gibbons and Paul and have been very busy over the past two weeks learning lots of new things whilst having lots of fun!

We have been exploring the theme myself. In SPHE we created our own  jigsaw ‘we all fit together’.

In history we made colourful  personal timelines which we displayed with picture of ourselves when we were babies. There was lots of laughter looking at out baby pictures!

Last week we learned lots of ‘silent b’ words in phonics and created a cute display with lambs.

This week we have been focusing on the skill of predicting in literacy by predicting the outcome of the story ‘Gentle Giant’ using our crystal ball.

In Visual Arts we drew our very own self portraits using the poem ‘I Like Myself’ by Katie Beaumount as our stimulus.

Finally in Gaeilge we have been exploring the theme Mé Féin, we learned the ‘Haka Gaelach’. Paul is an expert on sport and he taught us all about the New Zealand rugby team traditional ‘haka’ dance which they perform before each rugby match they play. Watch this space because we will be uploading a video of our performance very soon!!!!!!
