First Class Trip to Skerries Mills

On Friday the 3rd of March First Class went on a class trip to Skerries Mills. We had been learning about windmills at school and we were very excited to see a real windmill. IMG_3006The tour started in the mill house. We seen the ovens where cakes and bread were baked using flour made in the mills.

IMG_3008 IMG_3007We also got to see some grinding stones, which were used before the invention of windmills. We even got a chance to use the grinding stones.

IMG_3022 IMG_3023Once we finished watching the watermill in action we made our way across the fields to the first windmill. We went inside the windmill and climbed the narrow steps to the top of the windmill – this was so much fun. Our guide taught us all about the workings of the windmill.

We had a great day on our trip to Skerries Mills!
