December in Senior Infants

December has been a really exciting month in Scoil Chormaic’s Senior Infants. This month, we explored the Aistear theme ‘The Arctic’. The children loved our igloo in the role-play area and the Arctic icebergs in our Small World area brought the theme to life as the children played with wooden Arctic animals and Inuit figurines.

This month we also celebrated St. Nicholas Day. We discussed what St. Nicholas Day is and children who celebrate this occasion shared their experiences with us. The children then coloured in shoes and left them on their tables at break time. When returning after break, St. Nicholas had come and left chocolate on everyone’s shoes! There was great excitement in Senior Infants!

Scoil Chormaic held a fundraiser for homelessness this month. It was a lovely event where people from the local Nursing home came to join us listening to live music in our PE hall. Sweets and treats were also available to buy on the day to support this cause.

The children painted some fantastic Winter scenes in Art this month. We mixed various shades of blue to create a frosty background before painting on snowmen.

Finally, on the 18/12/19, we celebrated Winter Assembly. The children were fantastic and sang beautifully. Thank you to all parents who came to support us as the children put in so much effort and preparation for the big day. Ms. Farrell’s class sang ABBA- Mamma Mia and Ms. Moore’s class, Jackson 5- ABC. Well done to both classes on such brilliant performances!
