School Council – Art Competition – Winning Entries

Our School Council recently organised an art competition for 1st to 6th class. The purpose of the contest was to design a character or school mascot which will appear on future editions of the upcoming school newsletter. One winner was chosen from each class level. The Children of Lir by Ms. Tracey’s Senior Infants

The children of Ms. Tracey’s Senior Infants have spent the past few weeks learning about the story of The Children of Lir. Paired Reading in 1st and 5th class!

Ms Fitzpatrick’s and Ms O Beirne’s classes have been doing some paired reading over the last few weeks and have really been enjoying it!Each pupil from 5th class is paired up with a pupil from 1st class and they take turns reading. Paired reading gives both classes the opportunity to spend some extra time reading and practice our good reading skills. There are lots of benefits for each partner! 1st class get to practice their reading, and also get to listen to a lovely story from 5th class. The 5th class pupils get to practice reading for an audience, so have to be sure to use their best reading voice to keep their listener interested!!
